Day 4: Woke up today around 7:00 and again heard swans on the lake. Saw one Bison and one elk off in the distance. Those were the first animal sightings on our hike back and forth to our camp. Drove into Canyon to check weather and eat breakfast. Continued to the west entrance to rent two mountain bikes. Got 29'ers and went on some nearby trails just outside the park. I was very out of breath on the uphills! Drove back into the park, ate lunch, and rode on a bike trail for about 3 hours total. Saw Prismatic springs and traveled to Old Faithful. It went off at 5:40 exactly. Met some nice people beside us from Akron, Ohio - small world. Most people here are from out of the country. Ate dinner and saw the lodge. Loved the neat wood work. Saw a bull elk with a big rack on the way back to the trail head. Got back to our trail head late so we were really, really rushing. Threw a bunch of stuff around in the car. Then.. We saw a big, female MOOSE eating by the stream close to our site! I was extremely excited to say the least. Moose are not common in the higher elevations where we camped. No fire tonight so we just talked.

Backcountry map for Cascade Lake, the lake is in the upper right-hand corner. We stayed at campsite 2 and 4. There was always parking at the trailhead so we would leave our car overnight.
